Today I see a psychiatrist. My therapist and my doctor recommended it. I needs meds of some kind to help me and they want me to do this first. The therapist thinks I may have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder due to what happened to me as a child, we already know I suffer from depression and she also believes that I have ADD.
I'm quite nervous about this and don't really know what to expect when I get there. My appointment is at 2pm and I know I'm going to be thinking about it all morning.

My Current WIP
Just wanted to show off what I'm working on now. I'm quite focused on this and want to complete it within the next 6 weeks. I have fallen in love with the simplicity of the Quaker Samplers and am really enjoying doing this one.
I don't have a picture of my WIP, just the completed Sampler, but I have nearly completed the top left side green medallion. I'm sure I will finish it tonight during the "Let's Stitch" Friday Night SAL and start the one under it also. This is "Quaker Sampler" by The Workbasket. I'm working it on 2 over 2 on 28ct Lugana with the called for GA threads of Cranberry, Dried Thyme, Gold Leaf and Midnight. I really like the way it's turning out, the coverage of the threads is great! I contemplated doing 1 over 1, but think I like this better.
I will post a picture of my WIP this weekend.

Plugging for a friend
I have a friend from a parenting board I belong to and she's trying to win an awesome new 50" HDTV. She's very nearly in first place, so I thought I'd put a link to her story here and if you feel so inclined, you could vote for her story. Please click here to read their story.

New Goals for 2010
So I'm setting some new goals for 2010. I'm learning that I just can't do too much at one time. Unfortunately, once I start to have success at something, there's something in me that doesn't like to or doesn't think I am good enough for that success. So here are my goals for 2010 - they are a mix of cross-stitch, exercise, and personal.
2010 Goals
Blog once a week
Exercise 3x a week
Start & Finish a Quaker Sampler
Catch up on and then continue the Papillon Mystery SAL 2009
Stitch a birth sampler for Emma
Start & Finish Mirabilia "Winter Queen" for Therese
Start Mirabilia "Autumn in my Garden" for MIL
Do a Christmas ornie for each of my children & Granddaughter
Organize my floss
Continue to see my therapist
Journal at least 3x a week
One of my goals for myself this year is to not pretend to be "Happy". It's hard to explain this. I was always the "Peacekeeper" in my home growing up. I had 3 brothers (very loud and arguing brothers) and a divorced Mom who worked 2-3 jobs just to keep things going. I learned to never express how I felt or say what I wanted or needed. I just took care of my brothers and my Mom and as for me....well that wasn't important. What was important was that they were happy and cared for. Unfortunately, that has really hurt me in my adult life. I tend to worry more about how others around me are feeling and it's been at the expense of my own feelings and my ability to really know how to show/express my own anger/sadness/frustration or other feelings. I keep that "Happy" face on and am afraid to and don't know how to show otherwise. So this year, I am learning how to NOT put on that "Happy" face, and just be me....warts and all.
Alright, enough of the heavy serious stuff. Here are some pictures of my beautiful Granddaughter! Here are Therese and Bryan the night after she was born. And in turn, these are my boys with their new niece. Devan, Caelan & then my youngest Todd.
Thanks for sharing my joy!

All the News
It's been a very long time since I wrote. I've had so many ups and downs in the last 2 months. I started seeing my therapist again and I've started journaling about my abuse and how it's affected me over the years. I will probably start using my blog as a place to journal also. I find it so much easier to type the words than to write them, as my fingers fly over the keyboard faster than they do with pen and paper. Either way, I just want to get it all out.
Today, however, I'm going to write about my beautiful Granddaughter Emma Ann Wolff that was born on December 1, 2009. I was able to be with my daughter through the majority of her labor and then during Emma's birth. I got some amazing photos, some that can't be shared, but many that can. Emma was born after 31 hours of labor, 20 of which were active hours, the first 11 were mostly latent and with very little that Therese could feel contraction wise.

Briefly, her water broke at around 11am on November 30, she called the doctor and also called her fiancee Bryan as he was at school in Madison. She went up to the hospital around 12:30pm, then checked her and she was around 2cm. So she pretty much just hung around the L&D floor, walked, watched TV. Her Dr checked her again at 5:30 and found she was still at 2cm, but he said she still had bulging bag of water, so broke it with the amniohook. At 9:30 that night she was still at 2, so I went home. Around 11:30 that night, she started feeling contractions.
At 5am the next morning she was at 3cm, and they decided to start Pitocin. I got there around 8 and she got on the birthing ball. Most of the contractions were in her back and she was in a lot of pain. I was doing counter-pressure on her back during contractions, but it didn't help much. It did help her to bounce on the ball though during her contractions.

The doctor checked once again at 10:30 and she was still only at 3cm AND he found she STILL had water bulging, so broke that once again. She instantly went from 3 to6cm while he still hand his fingers there checking her. She decided that she wanted the epidural since her back pain was so great, so that was administered at 11:30. So once she got the epi she was happy.
So she happily labored after that and by 2:10pm she was between 8-9cm and her cervix was paper thin, they dropped the amount of epi they gave her, and started occasionally giving her oxygen as Emma's heart rate was dropping occasionally with the contractions. Therese still didn't feel anything, so they dropped the epi again, and again. Dr checked her at 4:15 and she was complete, but still not feeling any contractions so they finally turned the epi off at 5pm and let her do some gentle pushing when she had a contraction even though she couldn't feel them. By 5:40pm she could finally feel to really push effectively....

Emma was born at 6:16pm, weighing 6lbs 10 oz and she was 19" long. She's absolutely beautiful!
I will add more pictures in my next post.
